Teachers are encouraged to make use of this facility for class trips for elementary, middle school and high-school history students. Educational materials will be made available on specific topics and historic periods. Tours conducted by museum staff include living-history presentations with the aid of films, slide shows, memorabilia and handouts.
Tours can also be arranged to include visits to Lasdon's Trail of Honor and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The Trail of Honor comprises a series of 12 sculptures that represent every conflict from the American Revolution through Operation Desert Storm.
The Westchester Vietnam Veterans Memorial comprises three seven-foot bronze statues that depict a soldier carrying a wounded comrade and a nurse reaching out to assist them. An obelisk nearby bears inscriptions of the names of Westchester servicemen and nurses killed in Vietnam.
Visitors may read stories, view photographs, paintings, prints and military memorabilia of past conflicts and pause to acknowledge what the men and women of the armed services have given for their country over the years. Visiting veterans will be able to remember past deeds as they peruse items in collections pertaining to their particular era.
